Children move on to our Junior School at the age of 7.  It acts as a transition from the very nurturing Pre-Prep and prepares them for the more serious challenges they will face in our Senior School, when they will be focussing on entrance examinations to their next schools.

The two years spent in Junior School are still very friendly and supportive and there is fun and laughter throughout the day.  The main aim of this stage is to build on the foundations laid in our Pre-Prep.  As the children have developed such a solid grounding in the basics and enjoy reading, writing and discussing things, we are able to make rapid progress with more serious learning.  The Junior School beds down basic knowledge together with the disciplines of learning, thinking and self-expression, so it builds up plenty of confidence in the children and develops the intellectual fitness which will be so important in their later lives.

The Junior School works in recently built classrooms which are very well equipped.  Most teaching is by general form teachers, working alongside specialist subject staff from the Senior School.   The curriculum still maintains a basic emphasis on English and Maths, but there is plenty of breadth from the other subjects studied - Science, History, Geography, RS, French, Art, Design Technology, and Music.   It is a very full education and there is also plenty of sport, together with PE and regular swimming.

The Juniors have their own choir and there are many club activities which they can start to take part in.
