PRE-PREP | NURSERY
Our aim is to provide a happy, secure and structured environment where the children can enjoy going to school for the first time. Practical activity and planned play make every day fun and stimulating and there is plenty of variety for everyone.
Our Nursery takes children from the term in which the child turns three and gives a gentle and enjoyable introduction to life at York House. Children participate in swimming, french, dance and music lessons in addition to the literacy, numeracy and topic based curriculum.
Our modern Pre-Prep School contains purpose built Nursery classrooms bathed in natural sunlight, with easy access to a dedicated outdoor play area out in The Orchard. The school is set in 47 acres of beautiful Hertfordshire countryside, providing extended grounds allowing play on acres of grass playing fields.
Our recently built All-Weather Pitches also provide the very highest quality playing surfaces for a variety of games and sports throughout the year.
Confidence, understanding, learning and social skills rapidly develop, as do early friendships and at 4 years+ the children move into the Reception classes.
Children are assessed by spending time in the Nursery and once a place is offered they can then participate in a settling-in day as part of joining the school.
We appreciate the needs of families are paramount and therefore we have a flexible approach to admission which can support both children and the parents in times of change.
Extended day including breakfast and tea is available
We would welcome you to come and visit the Pre-Prep during school term to meet the teachers and get a sense of the warm atmosphere that supports and nurtures the children.
