Mr Jon Gray joined York House School in September 2012 with great anticipation, both on his part and that of the entire school.
Having recently just celebrated 100 years as a school, Jon becomes only the seventh Headmaster in that time, a great testament to the stability and excellent management that the school has always received since its founding under the Rev. C. V. Hawkins in Hampstead, London.
Jon was educated at Bedford Modern and went on to read history at Christ Church, Canterbury.
He began his teaching career in Sussex at Vinehall, then headed north across the border to Belhaven Hill in Scotland. These are both boarding schools and provided Jon with a comprehensive knowledge of how a successful school is managed and operates at every level.
London then beckoned where he joined Arnold House in St. John's Wood becoming a member of the Senior Management Team. After six years he moved to south London as Deputy Head at Hornsby House.
He then became Headmaster, aged 32, leading the school to an impressive standard of education for seven years before moving to the countryside of Hertfordshire to be Headmaster here at York House School.
Jon's many interests include cricket and climbing mountains in the Highlands of Scotland.
