PRE-PREP

After Nursery pupils join the Pre-Prep in to the Reception classes and remain until Year 2. Our Pre Prep gives children a solid foundation in the core curriculum as well as further opportunities to develop in a wide range of activities including; Drama, Dance, French, Swimming, PE and Games and Music.

Pupils participate in a strong extra-curricular programme including outings, clubs and special visits from guest speakers and elite sports clubs that inspire and empower the children to foster a love of learning and the wider world.

The Pre-Prep School incorporates six classrooms, a library, medical room, multi-purpose activity room and fabulous outdoor space as well as access to acres of green playing fields.

We have a large and well equipped play area called The Orchard with both grass and firm surfaces and a range of play equipment to suit all games and moods!  Some classrooms have direct access to outside space, and enjoy bright natural sunlight throughout.

Each Form Teacher is supported by a team of experienced teaching assistants.  Our pupil /staff ratios are good and our class sizes are at a maximum of 16. Due to our small classes every individual is continually monitored and assessed and if appropriate extra support or extention and guidance can be provided.

ICT is taught from Nursery throughout the school.

EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

York House School is known for the breadth of its extra-curricular programme as well as for its academic results, pastoral care and sporting standards.

We have always offered an extremely wide range of extra-curricular and After-School Clubs, along with an exciting programme of outside trips for every year group with the Pre-Prep visiting Living Rainforest, Butterfly World, L.S.O. at the Barbican, the Dogs trust in Harefield and Bhaktivedanta Manor in Aldenham.

With Guest Speakers such as children's author Andy Cope, Rickmansworth Fire Station bringing an engine down for the morning and celebrating World Book Day to name a select few, there is always great variety and interest for the children to experience and remember.
