picture of THFC training session

York House was honoured to receive a visit and several hours of valuable training from the coaching team of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club last Friday.

Three THFC academy coaches (Miles, Rob and Jake), were utterly brilliant with all the children from Year 3 to Year 8. The pupils all experienced an hour of football coaching from these 3 UEFA trained coaches.  The afternoon was organised with the help of Trevor Webb, Paul Griffith and Daren Cousins of THFC.

On Friday morning the whole senior part of the school had a buzz of excitement about it and a sense of expectation, as the arrival of the Academy coaches from Tottenham Hotspur neared.

The afternoon (Friday 9th September- between 2.00pm and 5.00pm)  started with the enthusiastic Year 3 and 4 pupils being coached and taught individual skill sets. Year 5 and 6 were next, followed by the Year 7 and 8’s. All the children enjoyed the sessions enormously, but at the same time they all developed and extended their own personal skill levels. The professional coaches stated that the THFC aim for academy footballers is to give as many as 1000 touches of the ball in the first 25 minutes of each session to each individual, so you can imagine how active all the York House pupils were over an hour’s session.

It was a fantastic start to the first Friday of the Autumn Term at York House School. The children and staff thoroughly enjoyed the whole Tottenham Hotspur experience. The afternoon was such a success the school and THFC have agreed to set up a Tottenham Hotspur Academy Experience Centre based at York House School in the coming months.
