On Tuesday 15th November Form II went on a trip to the London Fire Brigade Museum. They had a great time watching an actor tell the story of the Great Fire. Some of the children were actors, playing the parts of the Duke of York, the Tower of London and other characters from the fire. They had a chance to look at some of the original old materials and equipment that was used in the period including 16th Century diaries containing accounts of the events. Afterwards they had a hands-on experience of fire engines from across the ages as well as a chance for the children to try on fire-fighter outfits. After a lovely lunch in the park (that the pigeons helped to clean up), the children walked down to the River Thames and looked across at St Paul’s cathedral and the Millennium Bridge from in front of Tate Modern. All the children had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed our history topic this term.
