INTRODUCTION:
Every parent at York House School is automatically a member of the Parents' Association and as
such we are always looking for new members to join the Committee.
The Parents' Association runs between three and four events every year and in addition, there
are approximately two meetings per term. If you have any questions or are interested in becoming
a committee member, please contact Zazi Stevens.
CONTACTS:
Chairperson: Catty Patel
Vice Chair: Sarah Leveridge
Secretary: Zazi Stevens - 07900 086355
Treasurer: Roger Williams
FUNDRAISING:
The aim of the Parents' Association is to raise funds to provide "extras" for the children,
which add value to their time at York House. Recently we have given computerised keyboards
for the Music Department, cricket nets and swimming blocks for the Sports Department and an
awning for the Kindergarten.
The latest project was to raise funds for additional play equipment in both the Orchard and the
main field. The funds have now been raised and the boys are enjoying the new equipment. Thank
you to all who took part in the events.
Our new fundraising targets will be announced shortly.
SECOND-HAND UNIFORM SHOP:
The shop has now been up and running over a year in the old First Aid Room) displays a wide
range of second-hand uniform. The shop is run by Zazi Stevens and Catty Patel and their band
of volunteers.
It is open on the first Monday of each month between 8.30 - 9.15am and 2.45 - 4.15pm.
Zazi and Catty are building up a good stock of second-hand uniform and would greatly appreciate
any more unwanted items of uniform. Parents will receive 50% of any monies made and 50% will be
retained by the Parents' Association.
THE BALL:
The ball was a fantastic success taking place in June 2008.
A marquee transformed the area by the tennis courts, the theme was black and silver.
Annas Kitchen of Rickmansworth provided the catering. Anna and her team did a fantastic
job and everyone enjoyed it.
The live auction was great fun, with many tables bidding for items.
The evening was a great success and it meant we could start our playground equipment project.
Thanks to all involved.
FIREWORKS
There was a good attendance at the Fireworks Party, despite the appalling weather on Saturday
evening.
The rides and candy-floss were enjoyed by lots of children, and the adults appreciated
the hot drinks - especially the mulled wine! The barbecue was very popular - there was a long
(but quickly moving) queue for hotdogs and burgers for most of the time. The raffle was also
a success.
However, the highlight of the evening was the splendid fireworks display. Happily, for the duration,
the rain held off and the sky cleared enough for the explosions, bright colours and patterns drawn
in the night sky to rank it as one of the best ever displays at YHS.
Thank you to all involved in the hard work to give everyone a most enjoyable evening.
GIFTWRAP & TEATOWELS:
The sale of gift wrap proved to be extremely popular this year.
Tea towels are now on sale - they make great Christmas presents for Grandparents and Aunts.
Thank you to all the Kindergarten, Pre-Prep and Junior staff that helped compile the tea towels -
your help is greatly appreciated.
DATES FOR YOUR DIARY:
RACE NIGHT - 9TH March 2009 - details to follow.
