York House

Welcome from
the Headmaster

The school was founded in 1910 and has been located in our stunning location just outside Croxley Green in Hertfordshire since 1966. I have responsibility for making sure that every year we get better at what we do. The past is relevant – as a history teacher, I appreciate that – but it should not be dominant.

The working world our children will enter is not easy to predict, but my experience to date suggests that candidates who display our three pupil aims will always be successful: a positive outlook, a sense of self-reliance, and being someone who “leaves people and places better than we find them.”

At York House, we believe in a broad and enjoyable education. Most schools would say that, but the provision within the school day of sport, music, art, drama, outdoor education and also our 100+ co-curricular clubs is remarkable.

Exams and grades are important, but we think there should be room in childhood for joy, wonder, pleasure and adventure.

York House offers your child a myriad of opportunities in a wonderful environment.
Do please come and see us soon to discuss that offering further.

With all best wishes.
Jon Gray
