Future School Destinations

We take great pride in supporting pupils and parents in choosing and gaining places at Senior Schools; each family will meet with the Headmaster when their child reaches Year 4 or Year 5 to discuss future schools.

We also hold several information evenings including a Senior Schools Roadshow and a talk on 11+ and 13+ transfer for parents. We provide specific exam and interview preparation for all Independent Senior Schools. Our curriculum and provision also prepare pupils well for the various 11+ processes for local state and grammar schools as well as the entrance exams for private schools (depending on the school, between Y6 and Y8). 

Girls and boys leaving York House for local state or Grammar schools at the end of Year 6 typically transfer to Watford Girls, Watford Boys, St Clement Danes, Croxley Danes, Rickmansworth School, Reach Free, Dr Challoners, QE Barnet and Chesham Grammar. 

Girls staying in the independent sector can leave at the end of Year 6 or at the end of Year 8, depending on the next school. Schools that York House girls may typically go to include St Helens, St Margaret's, Royal Masonic School for Girls, Abbots Hill, Aldenham, Berkhamsted Girls, St Albans School for Girls, Northwood College, North London Collegiate. Girls may also leave York House to attend boarding options including Heathfield, St Mary's, Rodean, Wycombe Abby, Beneden.

Co-educational boarding schools such as Haileybury, Uppingham, Stowe, Gordonstoun are also destinations for York House pupils.

Boys staying in the independent sector leave at the end of Year 8 to a variety of schools including;  Merchant Taylors, St Albans, Berkhamsted Boys, John Lyon, Mill Hill, Aldenham, St Columba's and Thorpe House. Boarding options for boys include Harrow, Eton, Whitgift, Haileybury, Shiplake, Bedford, Uppingham, Stowe, Gordonstoun, Winchester and Radley.
